Automated Can Opener
With a partner, we collaborated to design an automated can opener with temperature based feedback. The core function of this prototype was to sense the temperature of a soda can and either open it or dispense the can into a bucket of ice. Using a thermistor we were able to code a function that triggers either an ejection or opening action based on the can’s temperature being above or below the threshold. The opening and ejection mechanisms both consisted of a brushed DC motor attached to a rack and pinion assembly.
